First open your google drive
Second select my drive then select the drop down arrow and select google sheets.
Third, hover over the arrow which looks like > then you have choice of choosing from from a blank presentation or from a template.

however, in class we were taught by our classmate. we were given an excel work sheet. we had to email our answers to our classmate. I WON! I WON! i completed my work sheet first and won a C.D.
after the work sheet, we had to create another file to get use to using excel. 
and alas the take home assignment: we had to watch a video and the replicate what was said in the video. in my opinion it was really easy. here is the video of what we had to do.
